Jim is a software engineer for a K-12 administrative software company and Kerry is a college career counselor.

Jim and Kerry began attending CUCC in 1991 when they were first dating. They were married by Butch Henderson in Kingman Chapel in 1992 and have grown in their involvement with this church community ever since. For both of them, embracing the wide diversity of people and their experience is a key element of creating community. Kerry comes from an Evangelical Quaker background and her understanding of faith and of God and of what we are called to is based in a foundational belief in the “light of God in every person”. So Claremont UCC’s open and affirming commitment and stand as a “house of prayer for all people” are an important draw to them both.

Zachary went to his first church service and community Thanksgiving Dinner when he was only 4 days old! (We weren’t going to miss the turkey dinner!) Zachary attended the Early Childhood Center from the age of 4 months through preschool and learned many important life skills through the guidance and love of his ECC teachers. Jim, Kerry, and Zachary are involved in many aspects of the church – singing in the children’s choir, music classes and playing handbells with the Carillon Choir, teaching Church School to the 4 and 5 year olds, serving on various committees, helping with church functions and events, and leading the BSA troop that is chartered by UCC. We love being a part of this group of people.
