Ruby and Al are both retired college professors and 50+ year members of Claremont UCC.

We came to Claremont with our young family. We joined this church mostly because it was associated with the college/university community like the University Christian Church in Seattle where we were married, and we felt comfortable here. We met each other in our college church fellowship group, and there was no question that we would continue the same kind of activity here.

Through the years CUCC has become a pillar of our existence as we have raised our family here – both of our children were baptized and married here. We have established connections so deep here in this community of faith that we will be here as long as we live, and then in the Memorial Garden.

CUCC has enabled us to use our talents in music and expand our leadership skills by serving in various capacities. We are privileged to be a part of a support system where we have shared the joys and sorrows of births, marriages, divorce, health crises and recoveries, and deaths. We have deepened our understanding of the Christian faith, and especially appreciate CUCC for being open to all people. Our hope is for others to have the same kind of commitment to and gifts from the Claremont United Church of Christ.
